What Does the Afterschool Program Offer? At Brewer Parks & Recreation, our Afterschool Program provides a safe, engaging, and fun environment where children can learn, play, and build lasting friendships.Each afternoon is filled with opportunities for: Games and team-building activities Creative arts and crafts Active gym and outdoor play Hands-on messy projects (so you don't have to clean up at home!) Homework assistance Special events and seasonal activities Plenty of smiling, laughing, singing, dancing, running, moving, and making memories! Kindergarten – Grade 4 Our K–4 Afterschool Program is located at the Joseph L. Ferris Community Center (318 Wilson Street). Students are transported by bus from school and arrive each afternoon at approximately 3:15 p.m.Upon arrival, students check in, attendance is taken, and they enjoy an afternoon snack. From 3:30–5:00 p.m., children participate in a variety of structured activities that may include gym games, outdoor recreation, park time, arts and crafts, STEM activities, and other group gamesThe day concludes with supervised free-choice activities from 5:00–6:00 p.m. All students must be picked up by 6:00 p.m., our program closing time. What Does the Afterschool Program Offer? At Brewer Parks & Recreation, our Afterschool Program provides a safe, engaging, and fun environment where children can learn, play, and build lasting friendships.Each afternoon is filled with opportunities for: Games and team-building activities Creative arts and crafts Active gym and outdoor play Hands-on messy projects (so you don't have to clean up at home!) Homework assistance Special events and seasonal activities Plenty of smiling, laughing, singing, dancing, running, moving, and making memories! Kindergarten – Grade 4 Our K–4 Afterschool Program is located at the Joseph L. Ferris Community Center (318 Wilson Street). Students are transported by bus from school and arrive each afternoon at approximately 3:15 p.m.Upon arrival, students check in, attendance is taken, and they enjoy an afternoon snack. From 3:30–5:00 p.m., children participate in a variety of structured activities that may include gym games, outdoor recreation, park time, arts and crafts, STEM activities, and other group gamesThe day concludes with supervised free-choice activities from 5:00–6:00 p.m. All students must be picked up by 6:00 p.m., our program closing time. Grades 5–6 Our Grades 5–6 Afterschool Program is also held at the Joseph L. Ferris Community Center (318 Wilson Street). Students are transported by bus from school and arrive at approximately 2:10 p.m.Each afternoon begins with attendance and a snack, followed by supervised gym time. Students then participate in a dedicated homework period each day (if they have assignments). After homework time, students may enjoy a variety of recreational activities, creative projects, outdoor play, and organized games throughout the facility.From 5:00–6:00 p.m., students join the K–4 group for supervised free time in the game room before dismissal. All students must be picked up by 6:00 p.m. Registration Registration for the Afterschool Program is accepted on a first-come, first-served basis at the Brewer Parks & Recreation Department, located at 318 Wilson Street.Please note that registrations are not accepted online at this time. Program Prerequisites The Afterschool Program is open to students enrolled in Kindergarten through 6th grade.To ensure a safe and successful experience for all participants, students should: Be able to use the restroom independently or with minimal assistance. Be able to follow staff directions and participate safely in a group setting. Be willing to participate in program activities and follow program expectations.
